HONG KONG – The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has condemned “the clumsy political show” staged on June 4 by the consulates-general of the United States and several other Western countries in Hong Kong.

In a statement issued on Saturday, a spokesperson for the office said those consulates-general echoed a very few anti-China troublemakers destabilizing the city, and exploited political issues to meddle with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs as a whole on the pretext of upholding democracy and human rights.
The commissioner's office called on interfering external forces to “take an honest look at themselves and reflect upon their own problems earnestly"
“It has only again laid bare their hidden agenda to sow instability in Hong Kong and use the city to carry out infiltration, subversion and sabotage activities against the mainland,” according to the statement.
The spokesperson pointed out that with the implementation of the National Security Law in the HKSAR and the improvement of the city’s electoral system, Hong Kong's economy and society have returned to the right track.
A few external forces, however, have turned a blind eye to the major transformation in Hong Kong from chaos to stability, and instead tried to undermine Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability.
“But such plots are doomed to fail,” the spokesperson said.

Citing wealth gap, racial discrimination, police violence and gun violence in the US, the spokesperson urged these interfering external forces to “take an honest look at themselves and reflect upon their own problems earnestly."
The spokesperson emphasized that Hong Kong is part of China, and that its affairs are China's internal affairs.
Any attempt to exploit Hong Kong to carry out infiltration or sabotage activities against the mainland crosses the red line and is absolutely intolerable, the spokesperson warned.
“We again urge the organs of relevant countries in Hong Kong to immediately stop such futile political farce, stop meddling with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs at large, and avoid playing with fire,” the statement reads.
