The number of inbound and outbound travelers has continued to rise in the first month following the full resumption of normal travel between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Chinese mainland.

Economic, tourism, business and other activities are being carried out in an orderly manner.

According to data from the SAR’s Immigration Department, the city welcomed about 1.34 million mainland visitors in the past month, averaging 48,000 travelers per day

According to data from the SAR’s Immigration Department, the city welcomed about 1.34 million mainland visitors in the past month, averaging 48,000 travelers per day. The number of daily visitors peaked on March 4 at 86,800, representing some 70 percent of pre-pandemic levels.

In the opposite direction, millions of people from Hong Kong had visited Shenzhen during the same period. Luohu Port, Huanggang Port, Shenzhen Bay Port and Liantang Port saw 3.1 million, 590,000, 480,000 and 477,000 visitors passing through, respectively.

As a major transportation hub linking other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Luohu checkpoint accounted for about 33 percent of the total passenger flow among all Shenzhen ports.

Shenzhen Bay Port had a busy time with some 60,000 inbound and outbound vehicles, including trucks, passing through in the past month, according to port statistics.

Passenger and cargo flow at Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge accelerated rapidly, with the number of inbound and outbound passengers having exceeded 710,000 — a year-on-year increase of 233 percent. More than 335,000 of the travelers were Hong Kong-bound.

At the same time, the number of cross-boundary vehicles reached 170,000, with 45,000 cars bearing Macao Special Administrative Region license plates.
