The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is playing a significant role in the transportation of anti-pandemic supplies from the Chinese mainland to Hong Kong.

Since the start of this year, 124 sets of prefabricated buildings, 70,000 oximeters, 3,000 air conditioners and other supplies that are used specifically for the construction of makeshift hospitals have passed through the checkpoint, according to local media reports

According to statistics from the Zhuhai port, trucks have made over 100,000 cross-border trips through the checkpoint so far this year, a 5 percent year-on-year increase. The number was also 3.7 times more than that recorded in the same period of 2019.

The remarkable growth can mainly be attributed to the increase of transportation of anti-pandemic supplies to Hong Kong, which has been ravaged by the fifth wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
