HK to hold live drone show on New Year’s Eve

HONG KONG – Six hundred drones are going to take to the sky for a live drone show over the Victoria Harbour as part of a New Year’s Eve Concert in Hong Kong.

The 2021 Beautiful Night Hong Kong New Year’s Eve Concert will be held at Central Harbourfront Event Space on the coming New Year’s Eve. 

The show, hosted by NEW TV, will begin at 9:30pm on Dec 31, 2021 and continue till 00:15am on Jan 1, 2022. 

Celebrities including George Lam, Hacken Lee, Vivian Chow, The Grasshopper, Richie Jen Hsien-chi and grand final guest Aaron kwok will perform at the concert

One of the largest scale countdowns live events globally this year, the event is expected to see the participation of 16,000 Hong Kong celebrities and residents.

The organizers hope the concert will convey joy and encouragement, helping people to regain confidence for better life during the pandemic, and lifting people’s spirit to welcome the new year with hope.

Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, one of the sponsors of the event, plans to give away 1,000 tickets to the underprivileged groups, low-income families and single-parent families to attend the concert. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Hong Kong Live Performance and Production Industry Association.

The audience will be able to take part in the lucky draw and win prizes, including a Tesla Model 3 Electric car and 10 iPhone 13, total worth HK$490,000. 

“It will be the world's largest New Year countdown gala,” NEW TV General Manager Bonnie Chan said, expressing her to send joy and positive energy for everyone to welcome 2022 with confidence and courage.
