HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Wednesday announced the launch of the regularized Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme.

Enterprises can submit job vacancies starting from today to employ Hong Kong young people to work in nine mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the government said in a news release

Enterprises with businesses in both Hong Kong and the GBA mainland cities are eligible to join the regularized scheme – an important initiative to foster career development of young people.

Participating enterprises shall employ eligible graduates in accordance with Hong Kong laws, offer them a monthly salary of not less than HK$18,000 and station them in the nine mainland cities of the 11-city cluster to work and receive on-the-job training.

Job vacancies under the scheme will be uploaded to the scheme website starting from March 20 for the graduates to apply

The government will grant a monthly allowance of HK$10,000 to enterprises for each graduate employed up to 18 months. Enterprises can submit job vacancies through the scheme's website from Wednesday, said the government release.

In January 2021, the government launched the pilot scheme. It received favorable feedback from the participating enterprises and young people over the program.

In his Policy Address last year, Chief Executive Joh Lee Ka-chiu announced the regularization of the scheme to encourage more enterprises to offer jobs and support young people to work in the Bay Area mainland cities with an aim to foster their career development and the exchange of talent in the GBA.

Upon vetting by the Labour Department, job vacancies under the scheme will be uploaded to the scheme website starting from March 20 for the graduates to apply.
