The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will reap the benefits of digitalization development, officials of the 11-city cluster said at the 6th Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Big Data Forum on Tuesday.

The forum was jointly held in the three cities to facilitate digital applications in the Greater Bay Area. Since 2016, it has emerged as an influential event in the field of big data across the three host cities.

Hong Kong Undersecretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Lillian Cheong Man-lei said the HKSAR govt has always prioritized the development and application of digitalization

Jiang Yuyang, chairman of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Association, said the association is expected to build a more-open and inclusive cooperation platform for the information technology sector of the three places, and promote the development of digital infrastructure.

Hong Kong Undersecretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Lillian Cheong Man-lei said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government has always prioritized the development and application of digitalization.

In order to get more data circulating in society, the government actively opens up data and also encourages organizations to do so, she said.

Duncan Chiu Tat-kun, a Hong Kong lawmaker from the Information Technology Functional Constituency, said data flow is very important, whether it is for medicine, logistics, property, or investment.
