HONG KONG – Chief executive candidate John Lee Ka-chiu received a boost on Tuesday after the city’s largest political party declared it will vote unanimously for him in Sunday’s poll.

Chairwoman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong Starry Lee Wai-king said the party, with over 150 Election Committee members, will vote for John Lee as he has a wealth of administrative experience and has shown capability and resolve in his past roles. The Executive Committee of the DAB has unanimously agreed that John Lee is an ideal candidate for the city’s top job, she said.

Starry Lee made her remarks after a meeting of the Executive Committee of the DAB on Tuesday to discuss the voting in Sunday’s poll.

Also on Tuesday afternoon, a local think tank – One Country Two Systems Youth Forum – submitted suggestions to the chief executive hopeful by handing over 10 proposals to his team.

The proposals are eight pages long, with 20 articles covering various aspects, including government capacity, district management, youth in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, education on the Basic Law, and telling the story of Hong Kong.

Henry Ho Kin-chung, founder and chairman of the OCTS Youth Forum, said that Hong Kong needs to re-establish a high-level think tank responsible for advising the chief executive and directly supervised by the Chief Executive’s Office.
