HONG KONG – At least one person has died and another was trapped after a crane collapsed at a construction site in Sau Mau Ping in Kowloon on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at the site on Anderson Road at 10:49 am, the Fire Services Department said on its official Facebook page.

The RTHK reported that two people were dead and at least six others were injured.

The crane suddenly collapsed and fell onto several containers beneath it, according to the RTHK report. One person was killed at the scene and another was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. 

It added that authorities have located the trapped person and a rescue operation is underway.
