BEIJING – China's State Council on Sunday appointed principal officials of the sixth-term government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region based on the nominations put forward by the incoming HKSAR chief executive John Lee Ka-chiu.

The officials will assume office on July 1, 2022. 

In a statement issued on Sunday morning, the HKSAR government said Chan Kwok-ki, the Director of the Chief Executive's Office since 2017, will be the new Chief Secretary for Administration while senior counsel Paul Lam Ting-kwok was appointed Secretary for Justice. Incumbent Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po will retain his post.

Chan Kwok-ki, the Director of the Chief Executive's Office since 2017, will be the new Chief Secretary for Administration

Incumbent Secretary for Development Michael Wong Wai-lun was named Deputy Financial Secretary while Cheuk Wing-hing was appointed Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration and Cheung Kwok-kwan will be the new Deputy Secretary for Justice.

Three bureau directors retained their posts: Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu, and Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung.

Incumbent Education Secretary Kevin Yeung Yun-hung was appointed as the new Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism. Under Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin will replace him at the helm of the Education Bureau.

Lo Chung-mau, Hospital Chief Executive at The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital and Director of Liver Transplantation Centre at Queen Mary Hospital, was appointed Secretary for Health while Commissioner for Labour Chris Sun will be the next Secretary for Labour and Welfare.

Also appointed were Ingrid Yeung as Secretary for the Civil Service, Alice Mak as Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Bernadette Linn as Secretary for Development, Algernon Yau as Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, and Winnie Ho as Secretary for Housing.

Lam Sai-hung was also named as Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Tse Chin-wan as Secretary for Environment and Ecology, and Sun Dong as Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry.

The State Council also appointed Woo Ying-ming as the Commissioner of Independent Commission Against Corruption, Nelson Lam as Director of Audit, Siu Chak-yee as Commissioner of Police, Au Ka-wang as Director of Immigration, and Louise Ho as Commissioner of Customs and Excise.
