A high-end seminar showcasing the business outlook of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will start on Friday, with several hundreds of business leaders and policymakers expected to attend the event.  

The full-day event, themed “A New Journey with Greater opportunities – The Virtual Tour to the Greater Bay Area for Foreign Businesses in Hong Kong”, will gather political heavyweights and hundreds of business leaders from home and abroad – including those from the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong – both online and in-person to share the latest business policies and investment opportunities in the Bay Area.

Five officials, including the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Liu Guangyuan, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, and deputy head of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council Huang Liuquan, will officiate at the symposium and give speeches in the morning

Following their speeches, a group of six central and regional officials from Guangdong province and four mainland cities in the Bay Area will share their insights in a panel discussion.

In the afternoon, a virtual tour will be held showcasing the intelligent equipment, medical and innovations of six companies from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Zhuhai.

The event is co-organized by the Commissioner’s Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in HKSAR, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and the People’s Government of Guangdong province.

The commissioner’s office said the event will not only showcase the achievements and bright future of the Bay Area, but also the best platform to give play to Hong Kong’s unique advantage under “one country, two systems” and its important role in the construction of the Bay Area.

It is expected to boost the confidence of the international business community in investing in Hong Kong, the Bay Area and the country.

According to the office, almost all foreign business chambers in the city and local business chambers are invited to the event, with members of these chambers expected to attend online.
