HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region search and rescue team in Türkiye rescued on Monday a survivor a week after a major earthquake struck the country and Syria.   

The HKSAR rescue team found the female survivor buried under debris in Hatay, a province in southern Türkiye, and moved her to an ambulance, according to an HKSAR government statement.

The HKSAR government on Wednesday sent a search and rescue team of 59 members, including officials from various departments such as security, fire services, immigration and health

“The team will continue to make every effort to conduct search and rescue operations in Türkiye,” the statement reads.

The team earlier found three other survivors in Hatay province and Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu expressed his appreciation for their search and rescue efforts.
