BEIJING – The national sci-tech programs will be further opened up to Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions with greater intensity and scope, an official said Friday.

China's National Key R&D Program and Sci-Tech Innovation 2030 — Major Project will add 15 special projects for Hong Kong and Macao in life and health, AI, communication, new materials, and electronic information this year, minister of science and technology Wang Zhigang said during an online event.

He noted that support will be given to more patriotic researchers from Hong Kong and Macao to participate in major national scientific research.

Previously, the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant departments, introduced several measures to help Hong Kong and Macao boost sci-tech innovation, and deepen sci-tech cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao.
