HONG KONG – Japan and South Korea are set to lift restrictions on passenger flights from Hong Kong, which saw airlines axing hundreds of flights from the special administrative region to the two popular Asian choices of Hong Kong travelers.
Welcoming the lifting of restrictions, the SAR government said it had been liaising with the Japanese and Korean authorities, and seriously requesting them to rescind all unreasonable restrictions targeting Hong Kong flights
The SAR government has confirmed that both countries will lift the curbs on Wednesday.
“The HKSAR government believes that the lifting of the relevant restrictions by the Japanese and Korean authorities can bring more convenience to travelers and help speed up the recovery of Hong Kong's aviation industry,” the government said in a statement.

The Japanese authorities started restricting the frequency of passenger flights from Hong Kong since the end of December while the Korean authorities followed suit from Jan 10.
