Hong Kong’s renowned Tsing Yi Bamboo Theater recently reopened at Tsing Yi Athletic Association Soccer Pitch for the traditional Chun Kwan Festival and Tin Hau Festival.

The iconic temporary theater is erected twice a year in the city to commemorate the birthdays of two Chinese deities: Chun Kwan, an ancient emperor, and Tin Hau, the goddess of the sea.

After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the must-visit attraction returned to Tsing Yi, staging a series of captivating Chinese opera performances, alongside a gourmet market where visitors can taste a variety of authentic Hong Kong street foods.

China Daily’s Andy Chong captured some joyful moments during this year’s Tin Hau Festival from May 19 to May 22.
