HONG KONG – Hong Kong shares ended lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 1.2 percent to 24,651.58 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, a benchmark that reflects the overall performance of mainland securities listed in the city, lost 1.14 percent to end at 8,827.67 points.

The Hang Seng Tech Index also shed 1.36 percent Tuesday with 23 decliners versus 7 advancers, dragged down by tech giants Alibaba and Meituan which lost 2.99 percent and 3.14 percent, respectively, according to Hong Kong-based financial information provider AskLORA.

E-cigarette concept stocks ended positive with Smoore International skyrocketing 14.55 percent.
