HONG KONG – Hong Kong reported 3,911 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, while the deaths of 14 COVID-patients brought the city’s toll during the fifth wave to 9,935, health authorities said.

Separately, a spokesman for the Hospital Authority said in another statement that as of midnight, 1,850 COVID-19 patients were receiving treatment at public hospitals, including 182 new admissions.

Among those hospitalized, 37 were in critical condition, including 12 in intensive care, while 39 in serious condition.

Meanwhile, a government spokesperson said Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Clement Woo has tested positive for COVID-19 through a rapid antigen test. 

Woo last went to work on Sept 26 and wore masks and followed relevant anti-COVID measures at work, including performing an RAT daily, according to the government spokesman.

Woo, who is currently under isolation, had no recent travel history, the spokesman added.
