HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Observatory recorded the lowest temperature at 1.3°C in Tai Mo Shan between midnight and 9:30 am Wednesday.

The temperatures in Hong Kong on Wednesday morning generally fell to around 10 degrees in the urban areas, with a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories, the HKO said.

The observatory recorded 4.1°C in Ngong Ping and 4.3°C in Tate’s Cain, while in the urban areas, it was 6.7°C at the Peak and 8.6°C in Kowloon City.

A dry replenishment of the intense northeast monsoon is expected to reach southern China on Friday and it will be generally fine with cold mornings during the weekend, said the HKO

Under the influence of the intense northeast monsoon, it was cold over the coastal areas of southern China on Wednesday morning, the HKO said.

During the day, it will be cold and dry with sunny periods, said the HKO, adding that it will be cloudier in the next couple of days and rather cool in the morning.

A dry replenishment of the monsoon is expected to reach southern China on Friday and it will be generally fine with cold mornings during the weekend, said the observatory, adding that the temperature difference between day and night will be relatively large.

A fresh easterly airstream will affect the coast of Guangdong early to midweek next week. It will be cloudier with temperatures rising gradually over the region, the HKO added.
