HONG KONG – Hong Kong reported three new COVID-19 infections on Saturday, including one untraceable case, bringing the city's tally to 11,821.

The unlinked case – the first in the financial hub since May 7 – involved a four-year-old boy who splits his time between two homes in Ho Man Tin and Shek Kip Mei.

The boy had last been to kindergarten on May 12 and saw a doctor in Tsing Yi after developing symptoms that evening, said Chuang Shuk-kwan, the head of the Centre for Health Protection’s communicable diseases branch.

Saturday's two imported cases involved two foreign domestic helpers from Indonesia. There were fewer than five preliminary positive cases

Around 20 pupils and teachers at the boy’s school – HKVNS Alumni Association Kindergarten in Ho Man Tin – are considered close contacts and will be sent to a quarantine hotel, said Chuang.

The children will be accompanied by their family members and authorities are liaising with the Social Welfare Department to provide toys and books for them.

Chuang said the two imported cases reported on Saturday were two foreign domestic helpers from Indonesia, adding that there were fewer than five preliminary positive cases.
