HONG KONG – Hong Kong police said on Friday they strongly condemned the act of impersonating police officers.

The police force reiterated that, as a professional law enforcement department, police would act in accordance with the relevant laws, established procedures and guidelines when executing duties

In a statement, a spokesman for the police said the force are concerned about media reports stating that Hong Kong “National Security Wing” has sent emails to overseas legal practitioners alleging that they have breached the National Security Law.

On June 30, 2020, the force established a department to safeguard national security, officially known as the National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force.

Police appealed to the people concerned to provide further information or evidence to facilitate follow-up actions.
