HONG KONG – Hong Kong confirmed one COVID-19 infections on Saturday, pushing the city’s tally to 11,830. 

Health officials have temporarily classified the new case that involved a 29-year-old foreign domestic helper from Indonesia as a local case but said it was likely imported from the Southeast Asian country.

The patient flew to Hong Kong from Indonesia on April 26 and has been tested negative for the coronavirus during her quarantine period before returning to her employer’s home, said Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Centre for Health Protection’s communicable disease branch.

The HKSAR government said about 2,081,100 vaccine doses have been administered under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme since Feb 26, 2021

A mandatory order has been issued to blocks 5A and 5B of Cullinan West in Sham Shui Po where the maid lives with her employer’s family, said Chuang at a news briefing.

Chuang also said there were fewer than five preliminarily positive cases.

According to the Hospital Authority, a total of 39 confirmed patients were being treated in public hospitals and the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, including two patients in critical condition and one in serious condition.

In another statement, the HKSAR government said about 2,081,100 vaccine doses have been administered under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme since Feb 26, 2021.

About 1,227,100  persons have received their first jab while 853,900  persons have also received their second shot.
