HONG KONG – A fact sheet on US’ interference in Hong Kong affairs issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry is a strong response to the US bullying acts, said the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the office said the "Fact Sheet: US Interference in Hong Kong Affairs and Support for Anti-China, Destabilizing Forces" is a firm counterattack to the US' attempts to damage Hong Kong's prosperity and stability over the years.

It is a “strong response to the US bullying acts such as the so-called ‘Hong Kong Business Advisory’ and its sanctions on officials of the central government in the HKSAR,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson stressed that the list is a "criminal record" of the United States interfering into Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs and undermining Hong Kong's prosperity and stability since the 2019 turbulence over the amendment bill in Hong Kong.

“The US enacted Hong Kong-related Acts and vilified China's policy on Hong Kong; it imposed sanctions in an attempt to obstruct the implementation in Hong Kong of the Hong Kong National Security Law and relevant decisions of China's National People's Congress; it made unfounded charges against HKSAR affairs and law enforcement actions taken by Hong Kong police in an attempt to undermine Hong Kong's prosperity and stability; it shielded and supported those who are opposed to China and attempt to destabilize Hong Kong, provided platforms for them to advocate ‘Hong Kong independence’ and spread political disinformation, and justified the acts of those lawbreakers by twisting facts and misleading the public; it colluded with some countries to exert pressure, and teamed up with allies to interfere in Hong Kong affairs and make irresponsible comments by such means as joint statements,” the statement reads.

The spokesperson for the commissioner's office stated that the list is a "wake-up call" to external forces attempting to interfere into China's internal affairs and curb China's development

The list has laid bare the malicious means and motives of the United States in interfering into Hong Kong affairs, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson stated that the list is also a "wake-up call" to external forces attempting to interfere into China's internal affairs and curb China's development.

“The list makes it clear to the world that China's sovereignty, security and development interests shall not be challenged, China's resolve to fully and faithfully implement the principle of ‘one country, two systems’ is beyond doubt, and Hong Kong's unity, harmony and stability shall not be undermined,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson pointed out that with the implementation of the National Security Law for the HKSAR and the improvement of Hong Kong's electoral system, Hong Kong is on a new historical journey from chaos to stability, prosperity and sound governance.

“The United States should abandon its outdated ‘us-or-them’ mentality and ditch its illusion of preventing Hong Kong from righting the wrongs,” the statement reads.

The Chinese side urges the US side to earnestly respect China's internal affairs, abide by international law and the basic norms governing international relations, and immediately withdraw its "black hand" for interfering into Hong Kong affairs.

"Otherwise what it has done will only boomerang and be firmly counterattacked by all Chinese people," the spokesman added.
