HONG KONG – The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) received on Monday from the Hongkong Electric Company Ltd its investigation report on the power outage that hit Hong Kong Island last month.

In a statement, the EMSD said it was examining the contents of the report on the incident, which left residents in some areas of Hong Kong Island without electricity for up to over 40 minutes on April 19.

“The EMSD is very concerned about the incident and is examining the report in detail with an independent third-party expert, evaluating whether the identified cause is well founded and improvement measures are appropriate,” the statement reads.

The department added that it will request HEC to make clarifications or provide further information if needed once its review of the report is finished.
