Applicants for the post of government counsel in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region are required to pass a test in the Basic Law and the National Security Law for Hong Kong, the Department of Justice said on Monday.

The Department of Justice said applicants will still need to sit for the test even if they had passed any Basic Law tests previously conducted by the Civil Service Bureau or other government departments

The department said passing the Basic Law and the National Security Law Test is an entry requirement for the post of government counsel. A pass requires applicants to answer 10 out of 20 questions correctly.
