Over the last quarter century, Hong Kong’s development has been closely intertwined with that of the nation. On the grand occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, solemn national flag-raising ceremonies were held by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and various Hong Kong-based central government departments to mark the big day. A variety of festive activities and performances highlighted the Pearl of the Orient’s vigor and prosperity under the country’s firm backing.
