HONG KONG – A high-level art exhibition celebrating Hong Kong’s 25th anniversary of its return to the motherland and the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China kicked off on Tuesday, with over 100 paintings of various forms on display to express blessings of the city’s art circle to the nation.

Held by the Hong Kong Culture Association, the opening ceremony was attended by over 100 political heavyweights and representatives from the art circle.

Ma urged Hong Kong's cultural and art circle to give full play to their strength, continuously strengthen cultural soft power, and vigorously promote the good stories of the “one country, two systems” principle and the mainstream values centered on the love for the nation.

Ma called on attendees to seize the historical opportunity to push the development of Hong Kong's culture and arts to a new level.

Chloe Suen Yin-wah, chairwoman of the Hong Kong Culture Association, said the clash of Chinese and Western cultures has brought rich nourishment to the development of local art culture.

The exhibition is sure to bring a new atmosphere to the Hong Kong art circle and build a platform for artistic exchanges, showcasing the superb skills of Hong Kong artists and bringing enjoyment to the public, Suen said.

She added that in the future, the association will as always contribute to the promotion of Chinese culture and strive for the harmonious development of Hong Kong.

The exhibition is open to the public in the Exhibition Hall of Hong Kong City Hall from Aug 2 to Aug 5. Residents can visit the show for free.
