HONG KONG – For long, people have been causing irreparable damages to Mother Nature, leading to sufferings for the humankind itself. People’s greed and insatiable consumption are eating away at the very core of what we call home.

Co-organised by the Art Promotion Office and the Hong Kong Designers Association, the second exhibition of the second round of the "Art >< Creativity" exhibition series in the Greater Bay Area, "From Infinity to the End", is on display from Oct 28 until Dec 18 at Coast Gallery in Zhuhai. Hong Kong artist Sim Chan and design group LLAB Design have joined hands to awaken people from the delusion of infinite consumption and to put a stop to the possible disappearance of the scenery and things around us.

The second exhibition of the second round of the "Art >< Creativity" series in the Greater Bay Area is featuring their work at Coast Gallery in Zhuhai, one of 11 cities of the Bay Area.

Following the theme of "From Infinity to the End", Sim Chan and LLAB Design raise awareness of the contradictions between humanity and the environment through their art installations, from the perspectives of cityscape and natural vegetation respectively.

Beginning on Friday, the exhibition runs through Dec 18, according to a government press release.

Sim Chan uses a series of lighting installations to construct the endless skyline of a city, allowing the visitors to ply the familiar yet strange hustle and bustle of everyday life between reality and the unreal mirror images.

LLAB Design makes reference to over 100 rare plant species that are either extinct or on the brink of extinction, using seemingly strong but fragile material to show the robust beauty of the plants.

They hope to enable the visitors to reflect on how few species of flowers may continue to bloom in the future, given endless urban development.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the "Art >< Creativity" exhibition series in the Greater Bay Area has been co-organized by the Art Promotion Office and the Hong Kong Designers Association, with the Shenzhen Fringe Art Centre as the project partner.

The first exhibition of the second round series was held in Huizhou earlier. The remaining three exhibitions will be held in Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing to further foster cultural exchanges among the cities in the Bay Area.
