HONG KONG – Hong Kong’s health authorities on Saturday reported 29,207 new coronavirus cases, including 424 imported infections, and 52 related deaths.

Currently, total of 5,151 patients testing positive for the virus remain hospitalized for treatment

The new cases took the city’s tally of COVID-19 cases to 2,625,633, according to the Department of Health’s Centre for Health Protection (CHP).

With the newly reported deaths, 11,807 people in the special administrative region have so far succumbed to the disease, added the CHP.

Currently, total of 5,151 patients testing positive for the virus remain hospitalized for treatment.

Among them, 642 are new patients, 3,123 required isolation, 715 required oxygen therapy and 88 required ventilator support, the Hospital Authority said in a separate statement.

Total 197 patients were in critical condition, including 53 receiving intensive care, and 192 in serious condition, the statement added.

Of Saturday’s locally transmitted 28,783cases, 4,183 tested positive by nucleic acid tests while the remaining 24,600 through rapid antigen tests (RATs).

As for the 424 imported cases, 210 of them tested positive by nucleic acid tests and 214 by RATs.
